One trend I’ve seen recently is a bride and groom will have a small wedding ceremony followed by a larger reception at a later date. This has created a new subcategory of wedding photography: Wedding Reception Photography. When Rachel, a longtime friend, asked me to photograph the reception at The Bluffs at Conner Prairie I immediately said yes.

A few months prior to this reception, Rachel and Austin got married in Colorado, where both of them live, surrounded by family. Then they brought the party back to the Midwest to celebrate the occasion! As guests arrived, the couple met with guests in the Chinese House, a gorgeous building. Attached to this is the large reception venue which was recently added and updated.

The spacious reception area welcomed all of the guests for dinner and dancing. The couple had a live band, heartfelt speeches, and energetic dancing. Fun was had by all as they celebrated Rachel and Austin!
